Uganda, Gao Zhisheng, and Hot Dogs

Today, I’m calling Senator Hutchison (202-224-5922) about the LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act, S. 1067.  I’ll see if I get through again this time.  Here’s what I’m going to say:

“Hello.  My name is Allison Kami and I’m from Denton, TX.  I’m calling to express my concern about what’s happening to children in central Africa at the hands of Joseph Kony and the Lord’s Resistance Army and to ask Senator Hutchison to cosponsor Senate Bill 1067 and help bring peace and stability to that area.”

Also, if you haven’t yet done so, please sign the petition to the Chinese ambassador for the release of Gao Zhisheng.  I talked about his situation back in my June 15th post.  The update on his status is that it has been confirmed that he is still alive, but his location is still unknown.  You can find the petition HERE.

Please join me!  And if you’re going to be in the Denton area this Sunday, please join us at our house for a fundraiser for Charlie and Earlene Cornett, a missionary couple who are starting up a soup kitchen in an impoverished area of Tennessee.  We’ll have all the hot dogs you can eat and performances by two bands, all for a $5 donation.  The festivities are starting up around 1:00PM.  If you need directions, please just leave a comment.  May God bless you and your neighbor through you today!
